Background:
Ballis Maxwell has always loved going fast, whether it was when he first learned to crawl, walk, or ride the old bicycle his parents found in an antique shop on Earth. It wasn't long after he was walking, running and talking that he discovered music. Sure he'd known about music before, but never quite like this. He was seven at the time he got his first guitar, and he took to it like a Vulcan takes to logic. At seven years old, he wasn't very good, but he seemed to make improvements with each day.
By the time Ballis was twelve, he'd "mastered" the guitar and had moved on to other instruments, some fairly normal...some rather eclectic. The only thing that competed with his music were going fast and reading, and sometimes he managed to do all two of the activities at the same time. He tried going fast, playing music, and reading all at the same time once, and spent two hours with a rather grouchy doctor and a dermal regenerator. Not old enough to pilot hovercars yet, he managed to satisfy himself with Gravsleds and Skimboards.
Ballis was fourteen when he first got to pilot a hovercar. He loved it, as expected. It was two weeks before he wrecked it, but managed to survive the crash with only a few bumps and bruises. His parents weren't happy, but they knew that piloting was in Ballis's future.
The time he wasn't doing his other favourite hobbies, Ballis read. He read everything from fiction, to scientific journals, to test piloting reports. His parents were pleased that their son soaked up everything he read. They were even happier when two years later, Ballis applied and was accepted into Starfleet Academy. Of course, they weren't happy that their son would be in Starfleet during the war with the Dominion...but changing their son's mind would be more difficult than shifting Mars out of its orbit and swapping it with earth.
Ballis managed to be both a blessing and a curse at the Academy. He was a blessing because he usually managed to answer questions correctly, a curse because he was a practical joker and a smartass. Balli's major focus of study,of course, was flight control, but he managed a secondary focus of science with a minor focus in operations management. The heavy workload managed to keep Ballis busy, but not too busy to keep up with his music, or to join one of the bands at the Academy. Though parties were infrequent during the war effort, after peace was made with the Dominion, they became much more commonplace. Ballis's band, "Wannabe Ensigns" had a very busy schedule.
The four years flew past, and Ballis received his commission. Given his flight control and scientific background, the USS Ennis was an obvious choice for him. Ballis loaded up his gear, his guitar, an old Skimboard, and set out for Starbase 163 where he would meet up with the USS Ennis.
Personality Profile: Ballis Maxwellis a fun-loving, fast-living, quick-talking guy who has a general zest for life and living. He is always ready with a smile or an encouraging word for those around him. He makes friends easily and rarely holds grudges.
The one thing that Ballis is sensitive about is his height. He's 6'8 and because of his height has had to endure a considerable amount of ribbing.
Physical Description Ballis's natural hair colour is Black, He is very tall and very muscular. He has very large hands, and has a large build. His eyes are naturally blue, though every once in awhile he will wear lenses that change his eye colour.
Special Notes Ballis Maxwell is highly intelligent and has a very good memory. He claims he doesn't, but there are some who accuse him of having a photographic memory. Ballis claims to forget things all the time.
