Dear Crewmembers of the USS Scoperta NCC-85897,

This monthly report, I think, will help us keep track of posting and just keep things running smoothly. In the past, when we were apart of the Delta Fleet I remember a similar thing sent out to show who has posted and how much.  So, therefore, Ive brought it back, but added my own touch to it.  As this is the first one there will not be much info provided. I hope this works!

Weve gain two new members in the past month. Welcome once more Lieutenant Ballis Maxwell and Ensign Alicia Hughs!

On another note Captain Paul Padria Malari has stepped down from his command and has appointed, the now, Captain NVek chaRal as the Scopertas Commander Officer!

Note:

-To the crewmembers that are in italics, I need to know if you are apart of this RPG any longer! This does not apply to the italicized new crewmembers.

-Tempest Satarius status is unknown because I do not know if she is planning to be an active member or not.

-Any crewmember can be placed on Extended Leave for reasons that are brought to Captain NVek chaRals attention.

-All crewmembers are excused only for this month, November 2003, for not meeting the requirements.

After a grueling battle with the Borg, the USS Scoperta NCC-85897 and the accompanying taskforce managed to send the Borg running back to their queen! During the battle Captain Paul Malari relieved himself from his command and placed his Chief Engineering Officer, Commander NVek chaRal in command. The newly promoted, Captain NVek chaRal, was chosen because he had the most experience as he once held this position in the past.  With NVek as the commanding officer, Paul Malari went back to his true love, medicine. 

After the chain of command was rearranged, yet again, the Scoperta returned to starbase for much needed repairs.  At the starbase they received two new officers a Lieutenant Ballis Maxwell and Ensign Alicia Hughs! Both officers begin their new lives aboard the Scoperta as the rest of their new family gets some much needed relaxation!

With the Scoperta fully repaired they prepare for their next mission

Stop the Rhiahi from enslaving the RiKarins, poisoning the environment, steeling their rightful resources, and repairing what damage has been done.

After which make a formal first contact with the people of Karianta and possibly gain new technologies.

Orbital Shielding Sphere-

A network of shielding generators surround the planet.

Pulse Ion Cannon-

An arrangement of 5 pulse ion cannons are emplaced around the planet to protect it from the harm which comes from space.

History:

91 years ago the RiKarin elders built great weapons of destruction and power. They warred against each other. Finally it decimated their entire people. This tragedy woke them up. They built the orbital shielding sphere to protect themselves from the aggressive forces in which they knew existed out in space. They planted the weapon systems in defensive positions around their world. After that their people then threw away their need and want for better and newer technology and embraced the sophisticated simplicity of nature.

Now the people, except for the 5 remaining elders, have no knowledge of how to work the tools of the elders.

Their world Karianta is rich in a mineral that a neighboring species uses to build their ships and weapons.  These people, the Rhiahi, are not very diplomatic and are driven by the need for power and new technologies.  They hunger for the mineral, but cannot get passed the barrage of fire from the Pulse Ion Cannons that are emplaced on the surface, let alone break through the Orbital Shielding Sphere.  Yet they continue to bombard it each week.

But on the week of Imbu Dah or Purification, the Rhiahi somehow got through the shielding sphere and begin raiding the planet of its resources. As a by-product of their mining, and purifying the mineral, the streams and environments the RiKarins live on are being poisoned and they begin becoming ill and worse yet, dying. In addition to poisoning the world, the Rhiahi are also using the men of the RiKarins as slave laborers in the minds.

During the time of mining one of the three remaining elders is able to send a distress call with an ancient communications device to call for help.  

Terms:

Imbu Dah- (im-boo  daa)

-The day in which the RiKarin peoples started their new lives without the tools of the elders.

-The RiKarin celebrate the monumental development in their culture each year in a week long festival. They also perform rituals like the Rahti Cu and Con Sehora.

Rahti Cu- (ra-tee  coo)-A ritual when a RiKarin fasts for 48 hours, which purifies their bodies, therefore symbolizing the purification of their culture.

Con Sehora- (con  say-orra)- A ritual preformed by children. They learn and memorize the tales of the elders and recite them in front of a Pehoraki.

Pehoraki- (pae-orra-ki)- A priest like person who is either an elder, a son of an elder, or a son of a previous Pehoraki.

Elder

-Elders are the RiKarin people that existed before Imbu Dah.

-There are only five remaining peoples of the ShaVaki time.

ShaVaki- (sha-va-kee)- The time before Imbu Dah.

Tools of the Elders

-the Orbital Shielding Sphere/Generators

-the five Pulse Ion Cannons

-the ancient communications array that is concealed within the Pulse Ion Cannons.

The Rhiahi- (ree-ah-hee)- A aggressive people from the planet RhiAra. The Rhiahi are just below the technological advancement of the Federation. They have similar technology of that of the Kirk Era.

Some of you may not like this new system and these new posting requirements, but they have been working great in another RPG I run and have only produced positive results. If you have a problem with this please contact me.
