Unified Fleet Posting Guide Posting Formats Here at the Unified Fleet we except many different kinds of posting formats, but new comers should try and use these below. For writing a post you may do it in two ways: Script format or Narrative format. Script Format At the beginning of a post you should always include the header. The header includes the place this section of the post is taking place. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Star Runner>>> When posting in a script format one does not use the " " to indicate when a character is talking. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Star Runner>>> Captain ONiel: Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter? To indicate that the Computer is talking place these [ ]around the dialogue. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Star Runner>>> Captain ONiel: Computer Where is Lt. Commander Carter? Computer: [Lt. Commander Carter is in holodeck one.] To indicate the character is thinking to himself or is using telepathy please use ~. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Star Runner>>> Captain ONiel: Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter? Computer: [Lt. Commander Carter is in holodeck one.] Captain ONiel: ~ What the heck is he doing there while on duty? ~ When your character is using the comm. system please use =/\= or <^>. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Star Runner>>> Captain ONiel: Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter? Computer: [Lt. Commander Carter is in holodeck one.] Captain ONiel: ~ What the heck is he doing there while on duty? ~ =/\= Lt. Commander Carter please meet me in my Ready Room. =/\= There are two methods of showing movement or actions please choose one. Method One: Placing the action underneath the dialogue. =/\= ONiel gets up and starts walking towards the ready room doors. He stops and turns to look at his first officer. Method Two: Placing * around the movement is a much easier way of do this, but often creates confusion between dialogue and action. =/\= ONiel gets up and starts walking towards the ready room doors. He stops and turns to look at his first officer. Captain ONiel: You have the bridge commander. * ONiel walks in the ready room as the first officer moves to the command chair* Narrative Format Narrative format is written like a book. It has complete sentences and paragraphs, but it gives more description to a post. Narrative Formats also need a header. Example: <<<Bridge, USS Runner>>> Narratives often have an opening sentence or two to describe the setting. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Runner>>> Captain Dean ONiel sits in his command chair waiting for a mission report from his Chief Science Officer, Lt. Commander Carter. To indicate that a character is speaking please use " ". Example: <<< Bridge, USS Runner>>> Captain Dean ONiel sits in his command chair waiting for a mission report from his Chief Science Officer, Lt. Commander Carter. "Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter?" asked the frustrated Captain. To indicate that the Computer is talking place these [ ]around the dialogue. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Runner>>> Captain Dean ONiel sits in his command chair waiting for a mission report from his Chief Science Officer, Lt. Commander Carter. "Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter?" asked the frustrated Captain. [Lt. Commander Carter is in holodeck one.] To indicate a character thinking to himself or using telepathy please use ~. Example: <<< Bridge, USS Runner>>> Captain Dean ONiel sits in his command chair waiting for a mission report from his Chief Science Officer, Lt. Commander Carter. "Computer where is Lt. Commander Carter?" asked the frustrated Captain. [Lt. Commander Carter is in holodeck one.] ~ What the heck is he doing there while on duty? ~ When a character uses the comm. system please use =/\= or <^>. <^> Lt. Commander Carter please meet me in my Ready Room. <^> This guide of posting is not a required thing, but just makes it easiere for players to know certain symbols that will be used in the sims. | ![]() | ![]() |
