After the Federation Colony IV sent out a distress call stating high levels of theta radiation threatened their population, the USS Explorer of the Unified Fleet, was sent out to aid them in finding where this radiation was coming from and how to stop it before the population's lives became at stake. After treating the colonist the Explorer crew found the origin of the strange radiation. A group of energy engineers were experimenting with a new power source to run the quickly growing colony. This power sources waste product was the before mentioned radiation. The use of this power source is now shut down and made illegal to be in use within the federation boundaries. The colonist have all been kept alive and now are resuming their daily activities.
