After the events of the last couple of days the
StarRunner crew is concentrating on repairing the
ship. The Warp Core is now operational and the vessel
is on course for the Romulan StarBase Soryak. Hawke
and N'Vek are both on the Bridge coordinating the
repair teams.

Hawke: So the Soryak, what can you tell me about it?

N'Vek: Before I joined StarFleet StarBase Soryak was a
Defensive Outpost developed to monitor the Neutral
Zone. Since it has been recommissioned as a trading
outpost between the Federation and the Romulan Empire.
It is commanded by Commander Torenn. His views on
StarFleet have always been favourable, ever since the
USS Goliath assisted his ship when they were stranded
near a black-hole.

Hawke: OK what do you know about our Romulan Liaison
Officer, Tamme Lista?

N'Vek: Not much. I believe she once served as a
Romulan Diplomat on Earth. I do not have any further
information.

Hawke: Have you inspected the Valkyrie Fighters? I
have debriefed our newest recruits. I must discuss
their training with you.

N'vek: The crafts are extremely durable and are fitted
with an impressive armament. The shielding system is
similar to the Delta-Flyer class shuttles and there
top Warp Capability Factor is Warp 6.

Hawke: I have designed a number of holographic
training programmes for the Hasard team to undertake
for there training. These test their team-work skills
and their individual skills also.

Daniels: Sir, we are almost at the Base.

Hawke: Take us out of Warp and prepare to dock at the
base.

Daniels: Aye Captain

Hawke: N'Vek, do you have a list of all the systems we
need repaired.

N'Vek: Yes sir.

Daniels: Sir we are receiving a hail from Soryak.

Hawke: On Screen

A Romulan male, approximately the same age as N'Vek,
appears on the view-screen.

Torenn: Captain, Jolan Tru.

Hawke: Jolan Tru to you also Commander Torenn.

Torenn: How may we be of assistance?

Hawke: Our ship was severely damaged by a Metreon
Nebula during a rescue Operation. I was ordered here
for repairs.

Torenn: Of course Captain. I believe you also are here
to rendez-vous with some of your crew. There shuttle
still has not arrived but we would be happy to afford
you any requests you ask. How about we begin with a
tour of the Base?

Hawke: It would be my pleasure, but firstly I will
have my Chief Engineer transmit a list of all damged
systems for repair.

N'vek begins to transmit the data. After a few seconds
he looks up.

N'Vek: Done

Torenn: We have received your data. Some of these will
require you and your crew to evacuate the vessel.

Hawke: Is that totally necessary?

Hawke looks at N'Vek to get his opinion.

Torenn: Absolutely.

N'Vek: Sir he is correct.

Hawke: I will begin the evacuation now. Hawke out.

N'Vek: Sir. I think it would be wise to encrypt the
Computer core. There is an immense amount of technical
specifications on the new systems onboard this ship.

Hawke: Ok, encrypt the data.

N'Vek: This should take about 10 minutes.

Hawke: =/\= Captain Hawke to all crew, the ship is
being evacuated to allo for repairs. Make your way to
docking ports and exit onto the StarBase =/\=

After about 15 minutes the ship is fully evacuated
apart from N'Vek and the Captain.

N'Vek: I encrypted the files and then rechecked to see
if there were any flaws. The system is totally
protected. Only you and I have the codes to decrypt
the files.

Hawke: Let's leave the vessel so. The sooner they
begin, the sooner we're back on board. Who ever
thought that we'd be undergoing repairs after our
mission.

N'Vek: I surmise that we are going to be in for a
number of surprises out here.

Hawke: =/\=Hawke to StarBase Soryak... two to beam
out! =/\=

Hawke and N'Vek disappear from the Bridge of the
StarRunner. Seconds later they rematerilaise on a
Romulan Transporter Pad.

Torenn is standing in front of the Pad with one of his
officers.

Torenn: Ah Captain, Nice to meet you in person. This
is my Chief Engineer, Sub-Commander Tal, he would like
to discuss the repairs with your Engineer.

N'Vek: I would be happy to join him and help him out.

Hawke: May I speak with N'Vek alone for a second.

The two walk of to the side and talk quietly with each
other.

Hawke: This is your chance. You'll be able to keep an
eye on everything they are doing onboard the
StarRunner.

N'Vek: Yes Captain.

Hawke turns toward Torenn and gives his permission.
N'Vek and Tal leave the Transporter Room.

Torenn: Now Captain: I thought it would be prudent if
we had a meal before the tour. Please join me to the
base Dining room.

Hawke: Of course Commander.

Hawke and Torenn leave the Transporter Room and head
for the Turbo-lift. They take the lift to the Dining
facilities where a meal is already prepared. Torenn is
at one far end of the table while Hawke is at the
other.

Torenn: I took the liberty of requesting a glass of
Romulan Ale for you. I know it is banned within the
Federation but as you can see this is Romulan space.

Hawke: I don't drink while I'm on duty. Now, what
exactly is it you do here.

Torenn: Captain, the dining table is no place for
business. Please enjoy yourself. I have had the chef
prepare you a Human meal. I know that the Romulan and
Human taste in food is somewhat different.

After dinner the two begin the tour of the base. After
an hour Hawke begind to feel worn out.

Hawke: Excuse Commander, could you please direct me to
my quarters. I haven't had much rest in the last
couple of days, due the attack.

Torenn: Of course Captain, I will have one of my
officers escort you there. Your crew-members should
arrive tomorrow. I will inform you of there arrival.

Hawke: Thank you Commander.

Torenn calls for an officer across the corridor.

Torenn: Take Captain Hawke to the guest quarters deck.

Officer: Yes sir.

Hawke is led to the quarters by the officer.

N'Vek walks into the room lead by Sub-Commander Tal. They walk forwards to the chief engineer's office. Inside the office Tal sits in his chair and nods to N'Vek signaling him to sit. "Now how have the humans been treating you N'Vek." said Tal. "I have not been misstreated. I have been excepted into their ranks. The humans are a favorable ally. Their compassion is a down fall, but I am adapting to life with them." replied N'Vek calmly. "Oh come now N'Vek. You can't possibly believe they have fully excepted you as one of their own. They're just keeping you around for information of the inner most secrets of the Romulan Star Empire." said Tal. N'Vek sits stunned of what he has just heard the sub-commander say, " I do not believe that is the case sub-commander." said N'Vek. " You don't have to use titles with me N'Vek," mummbled Tal as he leans forward to look N'Vek in the eyes, "Don't you reconize me?" asked the romulan male. " I do not." replied N'Vek as he studies the mans face. " Then let me remind you who I am. You don't remember the hours we spent fighting in the Dominion war together? I cannot believe you don't remember me." said Tal. N'Vek's face suddenly lightens up, "Yes I do remember you, but this is not a pleasant surprise. I remember you as a treacherous and devious traitor. Only thinking of yourself. You would have sacrificed my life and 3 small children's to save your own." said N'Vek. "That was then. I have changed over the years. My time on this station has changed that man." said Tal calmly. N'Vek gets up and walks to the door then turns back at Tal, " I came to help you with cordinating the repairs on my ship. If you do not intend to do so I will return to my Captain." said N'Vek. " Yes very well cha'Ral. I have my repair schedrule right here," he spins around his computer screen, "Take a look." said Tal. N'Vek turns back around and sits studying the data.

Hawke has been called to OPS. The shuttle escorting
Sub-Commander Tamme Lista has arrived. Hawke listens
as Torenn gives the shuttle permission to dock.

Torenn: Shuttle Soryak 1, you have permission to dock
at docking pad 4. Pilot please escort Sub-Commander
Lista to the Operations Center once you have set down.

Torenn turns toward Hawke. He hands him a PADD.

Torenn: This is the systems we still have to repair.
It will be at least another 24 hours. Captain, things
would go much faster if you would allow my engineering
teams to assist you Starfleet Engineers. Do you not
trust us to help you with those systems.

Hawke: It's nothing to do with trust. I've assigned my
own engineering officers to those systems because our
vessel is experimental and those systems are
classified. We would have preferred to go back to
Utopia Planetia but we were too damaged.

N'Vek walks into the OPS centre led by Sub-commander
Tal.

Torenn: How are things proceeding?

Tal: Our progress is being impeded by Starfleet.

Hawke: As I already told Commander Torenn your
officers do not have clearance to work on those
systems.

N'Vek: I have also re-itterated this fact!

N'Vek walks toward Hawke.

N'Vek: Captain May I have a word with you?

Hawke: Of course..... *Hawke turns to Torenn* Will you
please excuse us?

Torenn: Of course Captain.

N'Vek: I there anywhere we can speak in private?

Torenn: You may use my office. *He points to a door at
the top of a small stairway*

Hawke and N'Vek enter the office.

Tal: Sir, I believe I can get a crew onboard to look
at those systems.

Torenn: No Sub-Commander. Whether you like it or not
the Federation is our ally.

Tal: Yes. And as our ally they should be willing to
trade technology.

Torenn: May be, but that is not for us to decide.

Tal leaves OPS and Torenn looks at a PADD.

N'Vek is standing rigidly before Captain Hawke. His
hands crossed behind his back.

Hawke: What's wrong Commander?

N'vek: Sir I believe Tal maybe a Romulan Faction
Officer!

Hawke: On what grounds?

N'Vek: He was consistent in trying to get information
from me concerning the StarRunner. He was trying to
get me to go against the Federation. He consistently
referred to it as a dictator over Romulus as long as
the Romulans remained allied to us.

Hawke: Anything substantial N'Vek? Those are only
opinions.

N'Vek: Sir, he has always been like that. He despises
anything which may threaten himself.

Hawke: Did you know Tal previous to meeting him here?

N'Vek: He once was willing to let three children and I
die rather than risk saving us.

Hawke: N'Vek, it would appear you are letting your
personal experiences cloud your judgement. However, I
don't want to take the chance that I'm wrong and will
soon regret it. Try to find out his true agenda and
then come back to me. I'll have to deal with Torenn.

N'Vek: Do you think he is also working with The
Faction?

Hawke: No. He is just a typical arrogant Romulan
officer....... no offense.

N'Vek: I am not offended. In my culture arrogance is
seen as a strong characteristic and is therefore an
admirable one. Your people are governed by compassion
and do not see the positve aspects of it.

Hawke: Let's return to OPS. We have to meet our newest
officer.

N'Vek and Hawke walk into OPS and are greeted by
Torenn. Behind him is a Romulan female. She is stern
faced and looking toward the Captain.

Torenn: Ah Captain. You are just on time.
Sub-Commander Lista has just arrived.

Hawke: Sub-Commander, welcome to the StarRunner crew.

Lista: Jolan Tru Captain, Commander.

Hawke: I thought you were to be joined by my First
Officer???

Lista: The Commander was requested to stay back at the
Federation Embassy on Romulus. They are wiling to
shuttle him to the StarRunner when his business is
finished.

Hawke: Very well, but I wish I had been informed about
this!

Lista: Captain I would like to to go aboard the
StarRunner and familiarise my self with my new post.
When will we be returning?

Torenn: I believe I may be able to answer that......
You would have been permitted to return sometime
within the next coule of hours but due to StarFleet's
secrecy about their new systems the estimated time is
now another 20 hours.

Lista: As well it should be. The vessel is highly
experimental and only Officer's with clearance may
work on such systems.

Torenn turns in disgust. Hawke smiles and looks toward
N'Vek.

Lista: As an officer with loyalties to both the
Federation and Romulan Empire I was chosen to be
Romulus' Liaison Officer.

Hawke: Sub-Commander, would you care to join us in the
StarBase's Bar?

Lista: My pleasure sir.

N'vek: I'm sorry sir but I would prefer to return and
monitor the repairs.

Hawke: Permission granted.

Hawke and Lista take the Turbo-Lift from Ops to the
Bar. N'vek exits through another door to the right of
the view-screen. The corridor leads to the Engineer's
office, Tal's office.

Tal sits in his chair at his desk. His computer screen is active with a Romulan man on it. "=/\=... And Tal remember we're fighting for our freedom from this represive federation. This new technology on that ship could be a threat to our cause. You must learn their secrets.=/\=" said the Faction leader.

Outside of his office N'Vek walks into engineering. He walks up to Tal's door and stops, hearing him talking to someone.

" Yes I understand Commander T'Nor. Tal out." said Tal as he cut off the link. The screen goes down back into the desk. N'Vek walks into the office and Tal looks up at him nerviously, "Hello N'Vek. What can I do for you?" " I'm here to over see the repairs on the Star Runner. I have a PADD here stating the supplies my engineering team needs to finish repairs." said N'Vek as he hands Tal a padd. "You'll star fleet teams will get their supplies, but I still believe that with the help of my teams the repairs on your ship will go quicker. What is this big secret you are hiding from us?" said Tal with a frusterated sound in his voice. "I will only say this one more time Tal. Some of the instruments and technologies on our ship is classified. The Romulan Star Empire keeps secrets from us as well. That is normal in large organizations such as ours. Please stop pushing this subject." exclaimed N'Vek. Tal gets up and walks over to N'Vek, he puts his arm around N'Vek's shoulder and pats him on the back. "Very well N'Vek. Now leave me I have work to do." said Tal. N'Vek nods and leaves the office.

Captain Hawke and Sub-Commander Lista sit at the bar both with a drink talking to each other. N'Vek walks up to them both, "Excuse me sir, I wish to return to the ship to watch over the repairs. May I?" asked N'Vek. " Yes ofcourse N'Vek." said Hawke. "Jolan tru Captain... Sub-Commander." said N'Vek as he walks away.

N'Vek sits on the bridge cordinating the repair teams. He looks at a status report of what is left to repair. The ops console begins to beap. He looks over to it and sees no officer at it. So he gets up and walks to the console. He sees a transmission being sent, "Opening link". The viewscreen blinks on showing Fleet Admiral Anderson. "Hello this is Fleet Admiral Anderson." said the admiral through the comm. "This is Lt. Commander cha'Ral can I help you sir?" asked cha'Ral. "Can you give your Captain a message?" asked Anderson. "Yes sir." said N'Vek. "Ambassador Spock will be transported to the Romulan Starbase within a few days. Once your time there is done. Please transport him to the Star Base Phoenix." said anderson. "I will relay this message at once sir." said N'Vek. "Thank you N'Vek. Anderson out." said anderson as the comm. shuts off.

N'Vek sits in the command chair talking to Captain Hawke over the comm. "=/\=Thank you N'Vek for relaying that message. I want a list transmited to me of what systems are left to repair. Hawke out.=/\=" said Hawke from the Romulan StarBase. N'Vek gets up and nods to Daniels. Daniels gets up and sits in the command chair and sits down. N'Vek leaves the bridge through the turbo lift.

Hawke: Let's return to OPS. We have to meet our newest officer. N'Vek and Hawke walk into OPS and are greeted by Torenn. Behind him is a Romulan female. She is stern faced and looking toward the Captain. Torenn: Ah Captain. You are just on time. Sub-Commander Lista has just arrived. Hawke: Sub-Commander, welcome to the StarRunner crew. Lista: Jolan Tru Captain, Commander. Hawke: I thought you were to be joined by my First Officer??? Lista: The Commander was requested to stay back at the Federation Embassy on Romulus. They are wiling to shuttle him to the StarRunner when his business is finished. Hawke: Very well, but I wish I had been informed about this! Lista: Captain I would like to to go aboard the StarRunner and familiarise my self with my new post. When will we be returning? Torenn: I believe I may be able to answer that...... You would have been permitted to return sometime within the next coule of hours but due to StarFleet's secrecy about their new systems the estimated time is now another 20 hours. Lista: As well it should be. The vessel is highly experimental and only Officer's with clearance may work on such systems. Torenn turns in disgust. Hawke smiles and looks toward N'Vek. Lista: As an officer with loyalties to both the Federation and Romulan Empire I was chosen to be Romulus' Liaison Officer. Hawke: Sub-Commander, would you care to join us in the StarBase's Bar? Lista: My pleasure sir. N'vek: I'm sorry sir but I would prefer to return and monitor the repairs. Hawke: Permission granted. Hawke and Lista take the Turbo-Lift from Ops to the Bar. N'vek exits through another door to the right of the view-screen. The corridor leads to the Engineer's office, Tal's office. <<<Tal's Office>>> Tal sits in his chair at his desk. His computer screen is active with a Romulan man on it. "=/\=... And Tal remember we're fighting for our freedom from this represive federation. This new technology on that ship could be a threat to our cause. You must learn their secrets.=/\=" said the Faction leader. Outside of his office N'Vek walks into engineering. He walks up to Tal's door and stops, hearing him talking to someone. " Yes I understand Commander T'Nor. Tal out." said Tal as he cut off the link. The screen goes down back into the desk. N'Vek walks into the office and Tal looks up at him nerviously, "Hello N'Vek. What can I do for you?" " I'm here to over see the repairs on the Star Runner. I have a PADD here stating the supplies my engineering team needs to finish repairs." said N'Vek as he hands Tal a padd. "You'll star fleet teams will get their supplies, but I still believe that with the help of my teams the repairs on your ship will go quicker. What is this big secret you are hiding from us?" said Tal with a frusterated sound in his voice. "I will only say this one more time Tal. Some of the instruments and technologies on our ship is classified. The Romulan Star Empire keeps secrets from us as well. That is normal in large organizations such as ours. Please stop pushing this subject." exclaimed N'Vek. Tal gets up and walks over to N'Vek, he puts his arm around N'Vek's shoulder and pats him on the back. "Very well N'Vek. Now leave me I have work to do." said Tal. N'Vek nods and leaves the office. <<<Star Base Bar>>> Captain Hawke and Sub-Commander Lista sit at the bar both with a drink talking to each other. N'Vek walks up to them both, "Excuse me sir, I wish to return to the ship to watch over the repairs. May I?" asked N'Vek. " Yes ofcourse N'Vek." said Hawke. "Jolan tru Captain... Sub-Commander." said N'Vek as he walks away. <<<Star Runner Bridge>>> N'Vek sits on the bridge cordinating the repair teams. He looks at a status report of what is left to repair. The ops console begins to beap. He looks over to it and sees no officer at it. So he gets up and walks to the console. He sees a transmission being sent, "Opening link". The viewscreen blinks on showing Fleet Admiral Anderson. "Hello this is Fleet Admiral Anderson." said the admiral through the comm. "This is Lt. Commander cha'Ral can I help you sir?" asked cha'Ral. "Can you give your Captain a message?" asked Anderson. "Yes sir." said N'Vek. "Ambassador Spock will be transported to the Romulan Starbase within a few days. Once your time there is done. Please transport him to the Star Base Phoenix." said anderson. "I will relay this message at once sir." said N'Vek. "Thank you N'Vek. Anderson out." said anderson as the comm. shuts off. <<<Bridge, Star Runner>>> N'Vek sits in the command chair talking to Captain Hawke over the comm. "=/\=Thank you N'Vek for relaying that message. I want a list transmited to me of what systems are left to repair. Hawke out.=/\=" said Hawke from the Romulan StarBase. N'Vek gets up and nods to Daniels. Daniels gets up and sits in the command chair and sits down. N'Vek leaves the bridge through the turbo lift. continue.....
