Getting Promoted

Getting your character promoted lets your character expand its abilities on a ship. But getting your character promoted is done outside the sim and inside.

Ways to Get Promoted In Character

Ways to get promoted IC are the easiest way to get a character promoted, but usually will not fully determine if your character gets promoted or not. Getting promoted this way will take more time then OOC. Here is a list of ways to get promoted IC:

    1. Provide a great post that moves alone the story.
    2. Have your character sound like he knows what he/she is doing with star trek technobabble.

Ways to Get Promoted Out Of Character

Getting promoted out of character takes a little more work then in character.

    1. Provide a great post that moves alone the story.
    2. Post more often then the required amount.
    3. Submit essays on Star Trek subjects that go along with your ship or star base.
    4. Get a new player to join the Unified Fleet.
    5. Write long and detail posts.
    6. More evolve your characters personality and relationships on your ship or star base.

Here is what each ranks and positions and what they are allowed to do.

Ensign-

Ensigns are starting officers aboard all Unified ships and starbases. They can make minor changes to the plot unless they are a Department Head. Ensigns may take on the role of a department head, but must be nominated by a fellow officer including the commanding officer of the vessel or station. If an ensign is engage in a joint post with an officer at a higher rank they may be aloud to make larger plot changes along with that person.

Lieutenant Junior Grade-

Lieutenant Junior Grades may make a normal change in the plot. Lieutenant Junior Grade officers may take on the role of a department head, but must be nominated by a fellow officer including the commanding officer of the vessel or station.

Lieutenant-

Lieutenants may make major changes in the plot, but not destroy the ship or have enemies showing up to attack the ship/station unless approved by the CO or XO. Lieutenants may take on the role of a department head.

Lieutenant Commander-

Lieutenant Commanders have command rights. They may make major plot changes within the plot, but before having hostile aliens attack the ship or other extreme changes they should ask the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer if they are allowed. Lieutenant Commanders may take on the role of a department head.

 

Commander-

Commanders have command rights. They may make major plot changes within the plot. Commanders may take on the role of a department head. Commanders may take on the role of Commanding officer, but must be nominated by two officers of the Command Council.

Captain-

Captains have complete control over the plot. Captains set the mission if not given one by the Command Council. All questions about the plot should be brought to the Captain. Captains may start a new ship or outpost sim if approved by Command Council. Captains may be part of the Command Council.

Commodore-

Commodores have complete control over the plot. Commodores set the mission if not given by the Command Council. All questions about the plot should be brought to the Commodore. Commodores may start a new ship or outpost sim if approved by Command Council. Commodores may be part of the Command Council.

Admiral-

This includes all levels of Admirals. Admirals have complete control over the plot. Admirals set the mission if not given by the Command Council. All questions about the plot should be brought to the Admiral. Admirals may start a new ship or outpost sim if approved by Command Council. Admirals may be part of the Command Council.

Commanding Officer-

COs have complete control over the plot. COs set the mission if not given one by the Command Council. All questions about the plot should be brought to the CO. COs may be part of the Command Council. The following ranks may be the CO of a ship/station:

Admiral

Commodore

Captain

Commander- nomination/special circumstance

Lt. Commander- nomination/special circumstance

Executive Officer-

XOs have command rights and may take over the ship while the CO is unable. They may make major plot changes within the plot. The following ranks may be a XO:

Commander

Lt. Commander

Lieutenant

Second Officer-

The Second officer is chosen by the Commanding Officer of the ship/station. Second Officers have command rights and may take over the ship if the CO and XO are unable. They may make major plot changes within the plot. The following ranks may be a Second Officer:

Commander

Lt. Commander

Lieutenant

Lieutenant Junior Grade

Department Heads-

Department Heads are the leaders of their department. They make major changes in the plot. The following ranks may be a Department Head:

Commander
